Description
Role Mission: The Construction Project Manager coordinates and oversees all ongoing capital improvement projects to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality completion aligned with IDEA’s district standards. This role manages schedules, budgets, contractors, and compliance to deliver facilities that support excellent student and staff experiences.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Location: This is a full-time remote/on-site position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.
Travel Expectations: Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
What You’ll Do – Accountabilities
Essential Duties:
- Manages the execution of capital improvement and new construction projects to ensure completion on schedule, within budget, and aligned with IDEA’s standards.

Coordinates with contractors, consultants, and local agencies to ensure project compliance with safety codes, permits, and quality requirements.

Leads communication with internal stakeholders, including PMSI, regional directors, and campus leaders, to ensure accurate updates and proactive issue resolution.

Oversees the procurement process for construction services and materials in alignment with district purchasing policies and budget targets.

Develops, monitors, and maintains project budgets, ensuring financial accountability and accurate reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Ensures completion and closeout of punch lists for 100% of projects within 90 days of school openings.

Collaborates with facilities leadership to refine and improve systems, templates, and training that strengthen IDEA’s facilities delivery model.

Supports CapEx process execution in collaboration with the Facilities Budget and Asset Management teams.

Required education and experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Project Management or related field required

5+years of managing large-scale construction projects
Preferred education and experience:

Master’s degree in Construction Management or related discipline preferred.

5–7 years of experience managing large-scale construction projects.

Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to move around facilities, climb stairs, and conduct inspections.

Occasionally lift and carry light to moderate materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs).

Extended periods of sitting, typing, and using computer equipment.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $81,889 and $95,810, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
