Job Summary:
The Construction Purchasing Officer will be responsible for managing and overseeing all procurement activities within the construction project environment. This role includes sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services to meet the project's needs efficiently and cost-effectively. The officer will ensure that all purchasing transactions comply with the company's purchasing policies and procedures, as well as contribute to the effective management of the supply chain.
Responsibilities:

Source and manage suppliers to ensure materials and services meet project requirements.

Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.

Coordinate with project managers and site teams to understand material needs and timelines.

Monitor market trends and supplier reliability to make informed purchasing decisions.

Prepare and process purchase orders and documents in accordance with company policies.

Assess supplier performance and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to procurement.

Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a purchasing officer or in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.

Strong knowledge of construction materials and their procurement sources.

Excellent negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Familiarity with financial software systems and basic accounting principles.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.

3-5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement roles.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software is required.

Professional certification in purchasing or supply chain management is a plus.

In-depth knowledge of construction processes and industry best practices.
