Construction Site Laborer

Position Description

The Laborer performs a variety of physical tasks on our construction project sites to support skilled tradespeople and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role involves manual labor, site preparation, material handling, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

The Laborer will work as part of a crew under the direction of a Foreman or Superintendent and is expected to always demonstrate reliability and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with site preparation, including clearing debris, digging trenches, and setting up temporary structures
  • Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment
  • Operate basic hand tools and power tools as directed
  • Support skilled workers such as carpenters, electricians, and masons
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and project managers
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Assist with demolition, concrete work, and general construction tasks
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment

Qualifications

  • Previous construction or labor experience is a plus, but not always required
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor for extended periods
  • Ability to lift heavy materials (typically 50+ lbs)
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to safety and detail
  • Dependability and strong work ethic

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry materials and tools weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work is performed outdoors and indoors in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Exposure to loud noise, dust, and construction hazards.
