Consultant - Fire & Life Safety

Job Description

WSP in the Middle East are seeking a Consultant – Fire & Life Safety to join our team in Riyadh. In this leadership role, you will provide consultations regarding fire protection and life safety systems for large-scale projects throughout the region. You will provide consultations regarding the development of fire and life safety strategies and engage with clients and stakeholders to ensure compliance with codes and standards of record including the Saudi Building Code (SBC 201 and SBC 801), international codes, and standards (UAE, IBC, NFPA, BS, and others).

Responsibilities

  • Design Oversight: Assist in providing technical input and consultation on fire and life safety systems, including fire detection and alarm systems, water-based suppression systems, clean agent extinguishing systems, smoke control systems, and passive fire protection systems for complex projects. Prepare and support design submissions, calculations, and Fire & Life Safety Strategy reports in coordination with senior engineers. Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and professional communication across all deliverables.
  • Compliance & Inspection: Support verification that designs and installations comply with applicable Saudi and international fire and life safety codes and standards. Assist with audits, site inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Risk Management: Support fire risk assessments and hazard analyses, and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies for complex and high-profile projects.
  • Testing & Commissioning: Assist with integrated testing and commissioning of fire and life safety systems to ensure compliance with regulatory, client, and design requirements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with architects, contractors, clients, and relevant government authorities to support smooth project delivery and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Team Development: Mentor and guide junior and graduate consultants. Promote knowledge sharing, innovation, and best practice in fire safety engineering. Participate in training programmes, technical workshops, and continuous professional development activities.
  • Business Development: Contribute to bid submissions and proposals, attend client meetings, and support the representation of WSP at industry and client events.
  • Thought Leadership: Support the profile of WSP’s Fire & Life Safety team through involvement in conferences, technical publications, and professional forums.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related technical field (Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Architecture or related field).
  • 4-7 years of experience in fire life safety/protection engineering consulting.
  • Knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC 201 and SBC 801), international codes, and standards (UAE, IBC, NFPA, BS, and others).
