Who we are looking for

We’re seeking an experienced Occupational Health Consultant to oversee medical case governance, employee well-being, and compliance with UAE health regulations. You’ll review complex medical cases, guide early retirement assessments, and design preventive health programs that reduce workplace risks. By combining medical expertise with strategic insight, you’ll help build a healthier, more resilient workforce that supports organizational performance and growth


Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide expert oversight of occupational health across Abu Dhabi Ports, ensuring medical case governance, fair retirement and sick leave decisions, and the development of preventive health and wellness programs that strengthen workforce resilience while maintaining compliance with UAE regulations



Responsibilities

Medical Case Review & Governance

  • Reviews and validates employee medical case documents, ensuring alignment with UAE health regulations and company policy.
  • Assesses and categorizes employee sick leaves, distinguishing between short-term, long-term, occupational, and non-occupational cases.
  • Provides expert recommendations on complex or prolonged medical cases and advises management on appropriate actions.
  • Medical Retirement Support
  • Reviews and evaluates cases proposed for early medical retirement.
  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of medical documentation before forwarding to the Medical Retirement Committee.
  • Provides technical medical advice during committee deliberations as required.


Occupational Health Programs

  • Develops and implements occupational health programs aimed at preventing and minimizing work-related health risks.
  • Coordinates health surveillance activities for early detection of conditions that may affect employee performance or safety.
  • Collaborates with external medical providers, government health authorities, and insurance partners on employee health-related matters.
  • Sick Leave & Absence Management
  • Monitors sick leave utilization trends and identifies patterns impacting employee well-being and organizational productivity.
  • Advises HR and line managers on sick leave cases, ensuring consistent application of policies and fairness to employees.
  • Provides input into sick leave impact assessments on employee benefits and future rewards.


Awareness & Education

  • Delivers training and awareness sessions on occupational health topics such as stress management, chronic illnesses (e.g., diabetes, cardiovascular conditions), ergonomics, and workplace well-being.
  • Supports corporate wellness initiatives and employee engagement programs to promote a healthier workforce.


Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepares and submits occupational health reports, trends, and dashboards to management for decision-making.
  • Ensures compliance with UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security, Department of Health, and Abu Dhabi Pension Fund requirements in relation to medical cases and employee health data.
  • Maintains updated knowledge of medical, occupational health, and regulatory developments to ensure alignment with best practices


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health or Medical Sciences
  • English: Fluent (required)
  • Arabic: Proficiency preferred
  • A minimum of 10-12 experience in relevant professional occupational health, medical case management, or employee health governance
  • Proven background in occupational health or medical services, with exposure to corporate or industrial environments
  • Experience in reviewing and validating medical cases, managing sick leave utilization, and supporting early retirement assessments
  • Hands-on involvement in occupational health programs, employee health surveillance, and wellness initiatives
  • Familiarity with UAE labor laws, Department of Health (DoH/HAAD) requirements, and Abu Dhabi Pension Fund processes related to employee health and retirement cases
