The BRG Energy & Climate team is focused on M&A Advisory, commercial, regulatory, and dispute resolution challenges associated with primary energy development, trading, transportation and utilization coupled with the challenges of decarbonization and the transformation of energy use across the energy user sectors.

Our energy business advisory offerings and dispute resolution work are synergistic and mutually reinforcing. Our extensive experience with energy disputes makes us realistic, grounded analysts and our cross-disciplinary experience throughout the energy sector, as accomplished advisors, engineers, economists, former executives, and financiers, makes us highly credible, effective experts for dispute resolution matters.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter to join our International Energy team. This position will work on business development, client management and project delivery within the Energy market. In this you will be involved in both the identification, execution and oversight of engagement work, training and management of junior staff, client relationship management, quality control, development and presentation of client deliverables to a high standard, including drafting and reviewing expert reports for BRG’s expert witnesses, and to contribute to the expansion of BRG’s business.

Headquartered in Emeryville, California, BRG currently has over 40 offices across the United States and in Asia, Australia, Canada, Latin America, the Middle East, and the United Kingdom. This position offers advancement opportunities within a rapidly growing expert services and consulting firm.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage all aspects of client engagements and discreet segments of larger projects
  • Delegate assignments to staff, instruct and monitor progress, and review work product for completeness and accuracy
  • Generate client deliverables and make valuable contributions to expert reports
  • Communicate opportunities for and contribute to business development activities
  • While on a project you will need to manage client relationships and communicate results and work product as appropriate
  • Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, analytical methods and computer models to develop solutions
  • Participate in group practice meetings, contribute to business development initiatives and office functions such as staff training and recruiting
  • Prioritise assignments and responsibilities in order to meet goals and deadlines

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in the Upstream or Midstream Energy market, ideally within a consultancy or in-house environment
  • Highly developed network within the energy sector and an understanding of the energy value chain.
  • Prior experience in a commercial role in the energy sector, energy Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory and/or Disputes
  • Experience in managing client relationships or business development is very beneficial in this role
  • Desire and ability to manage processes within the firm and train juniors and/or other consultants
  • Commitment to producing high quality analysis, that is presented in a logical and coherent way, and attention to detail despite high workloads on occasion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to articulate ideas and concepts well orally and produce persuasive written work
  • Desire to work within a team environment, but also the ability to work effectively independently
  • Self-motivated as well as a Competent, critical and analytical thinker
  • Competency in a second language is highly desirable
