Primary Purpose:

The Content Creator Intern is responsible for designing and producing visual assets, including graphics, videos, and photographs, to advance marketing and branding objectives on multiple digital platforms. Primary duties involve coordinating appointments at schools to photograph students and staff, as well as developing marketing videos. The intern is expected to attend all scheduled events to document and showcase Southgate Academy’s community initiatives through video content suitable for social media distribution. Additional responsibilities include managing content calendars, assessing performance metrics, collaborating with various teams, and remaining informed about industry trends and platform-specific technologies. Candidates must possess strong creative abilities and demonstrate proficiency with design and editing software. Specific Responsibilities:

  • Content creation: Design and produce a variety of visual content, including graphics, photos, short videos, animations, and infographics.
  • Content strategy: Develop and execute content strategies that align with Southgate Academy’s Mission Statement.
  • Platform management: Under the direction of the Marketing/IT Supervisor, create content to be used on social media and other digital channels, using platform-specific tools and formats.
  • Performance analysis: Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance of content using analytics tools, and use the data to inform future decisions when required by the Marketing/IT Supervisor
  • Collaboration: Work with marketing, design, and other team members to ensure content is cohesive and aligned with overall campaigns.
  • Trend monitoring: Stay current with the latest visual trends, hashtags, and algorithm changes on social media platforms.
  • All other duties & responsibilities assigned by the Marketing/IT Supervisor


Requirements

  • Technical skills: Proficiency in design and video editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other video editing tools.
  • Creative skills: A strong sense of design, layout, typography, and conceptual thinking.
  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of creative and high-quality visual work is often more important than formal qualifications alone.
  • Soft skills: Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Content knowledge: Understanding of SEO best practices and how to optimize content for different platforms.
