Visible Logic, an award-winning branding and marketing firm in Portland, Maine, is looking for an experienced and versatile content marketer to join our team. We’re looking for someone ready to develop content marketing strategies, implement content-driven campaigns, and write copy for our clients and in support of internal marketing initiatives.

Description of work
We are looking for someone ready to develop a content marketing strategy and work through to completion including planning, writing and optimization. You will be part of a small team, and the more varied your skills and flexible your work style, the better suited you will be to this position.
Primary activities
- Developing multi-channel content marketing strategies based on thought leadership and SEO.
- Creating daily and monthly content calendars that use social media, email marketing, SEO, webinars, and events.
- Doing keyword research for SEO
- Optimizing website copy and blogs for SEO
- Copywriting and messaging for websites
- Writing blogs and e-newsletters
- Writing headlines and copy for print and digital ads
- Writing, editing, and proofreading of brochures, print and digital ads, annual reports,and press releases
- Writing text for social media posts and ads
- Making complex information clear in infographics and explanatory charts
- Writing, editing, and proofreading of a wide variety of communication and marketing materials.
- Developing tone of voice guidelines and unique value propositions for brand standards
The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Has strong experience in content-focused marketing campaigns, SEO and content calendars, and is eager to continue to learn more about this quickly evolving field.
- Can recommend messaging and channels based on the target audience and business type.
- Can contribute to marketing plans by recommending the messaging, channels, media, and frequency of communications.
- Has strong and complete SEO skills, including researching keywords, implementing them into copy, and using meta tags effectively.
- Has an interest and affinity for understanding complex B2B products and services, including areas that may require independent research to better understand the topic.
- Enjoys working on a wide variety of writing, including website copy, blogs, digital ads, social media posts, naming and branding projects, case studies, emails, white papers, long-form articles, scripts for videos, and outlines for spoken presentations.
- Is good at using words and graphics together to help explain and enhance meaning.
- Can write copy themselves and also work with other copywriters who may contribute to a content-marketing campaign.
- Is comfortable collaborating with designers and at other times working independently or taking the lead on the creative direction.
- Can juggle a variety of projects and works well under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Has experience creating brand guidelines that include tone and voice recommendations.
Tools and proficiencies
- Use WordPress to add blog posts and content to pages
- Use Yoast to optimize web pages and blog posts
- Use SEMRush to find keywords and track SEO performance
- Use email marketing and marketing platforms, including HubSpot, MailChimp, and Campaign Monitor
- Contribute to data collection and reporting using SEMRush and Google Analytics
- Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) and social posting tools and best practices.
Other required work
You will be required to follow our processes, including:
- Use a project management tool (ClickUp) to receive instructions and details and track tasks.
- Organize your files using Dropbox and Google files.
- Participate in meetings with team members and/or clients via Zoom.
- Track your time accurately.
- Present your work persuasively both verbally and in writing.
Important details
- This is a part-time, contractor position. 10-25 hours / week. There is potential for this to transition to a part-time or full-time employee position, especially for a candidate who is driven to expand their capabilities or pitch work to clients.
- We are in the Eastern Time zone. Exact schedule will be mutually determined but must fall within Monday-Friday 9-5 Eastern.
- Pay will be based on skill and experience, anticipated $50-75/hour.
- We are a remote-first business and work will primarily be completed on your own.
