Job Overview

The PBIS Content Specialist is responsible for providing support in the implementation and evaluation of the PBIS framework to schools across the division. The position is also responsible for designing and delivering high quality professional learning to school staff and leaders in the areas of instruction, intervention, and progress monitoring strategies to support the use of evidence-based practices in schools.


Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

  • Teaches, models, facilitates, and builds capacity to utilize research-based best practices within the school’s PBIS framework to support student learning
  • Supports schools through a model of consultation and collaboration with teams and administrators, including coordinated site visits, staff consultations, and collecting feedback from stakeholders
  • Collects and analyzes division-level data to identify trends in the areas of screening, progress monitoring, and instructional practices as well as formative and summative assessments
  • Plans and delivers professional learning, technical assistance, and resources to support the framework of PBIS in alignment with division-wide goals
  • Directly supports classroom teachers in their use of intervention

Education

Bachelor’s Degree


Experience

At least three (3) years’ successful teaching experience and implementation of PBIS


Licenses and Certifications

Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Has demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills necessary for building strong rapport and relationships with teachers, administrators, and community members
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Uses a team approach and is collaborative to accomplish tasks and promote collaboration to improve student outcomes
