Continuous Improvement Engineer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.

  • Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety-oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines

Continuous Improvement

  • Directly facilitate and participate in ongoing process improvements through the use of techniques
  • Develop and maintain effective training tools and resources specific to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain and improve a “best-in-class” continuous improvement strategy deployment
  • Work with various department stakeholders to build a continuous improvement environment to support an ongoing program of change
  • Utilize metrics to monitor improvements (time, money, ) as compared to original process
  • Partner with team members at all locations to develop new support materials based on revised processes; to include training, reporting and system enhancements
  • Monitor project risk where appropriate to foresee and identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions
  • Complete post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and to ensure that improvements can be made for future projects
  • Document and share all best practices inter-locationally
  • Assign and maintain CI Portal
  • Provide stretch goals to locations as a trailing indicator of improvements
  • Work on cross functional projects with other functional support I.E. Quality, Robotics, Automation, Tooling, Applications, Operations, etc.
  • Ensure awarded improvements are sustained to be able to budget for the gains expected
  • Indirectly supervise teams to work on and complete improvements (CI Contacts, production team leaders, etc.)
  • Work with the A.I. quality team to identify opportunities for improvement

Engineering

  • Participate in the development of innovative solutions to complex manufacturing processes, systems, and equipment by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, and receiving input from employees as appropriate
  • Participate in the improvement of manufacturing efficiencies by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Use statistical tools and methods to analyze and propose process changes and improvements
  • Develop initial concept drawings of modifications to existing equipment

  • Perform all other related assignments (including special projects) as required in a professional and cooperative manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:
    • Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering or related program required
    • Valid Lean Certification preferred
    • Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
    • 3+ years of leadership experience preferred
  • Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Project management
    • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Efficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
    • Ability to recognize safety concerns
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong coordination and judgment skills
    • Intermediate math skills
    • Ability to provide exceptional leadership and support to team members
    • Coach Approach or other professional coaching training
    • Ability to take part in continuous education and training
    • Familiarity with the ISO 9001 requirements
    • Ability to travel up to 10% to various Alexandria Industries locations as needed

Salary: $100,000-$112,000
