Continuous Improvement Engineer — Blow Molding Systems

Own the challenge: stabilize, simplify, and scale

Do you thrive on turning variable processes into predictable, high-yield systems? In this role, you’ll blend hands-on engineering with data-driven leadership to reduce waste, compress cycle time, and codify best practices across blow molding operations. You’ll be the force that turns one plant’s breakthrough into the enterprise’s standard.

Your mission

  • Design and execute experiments that unlock optimal process windows and certification-grade quality.
  • Stand up and govern SOCs with min/max control ranges; keep them current and enforced.
  • Build a Critical Process Equipment (CPE) program with maintenance to ensure uptime and capability.
  • Roll out VQS with Reliability and Quality so each machine is measured, monitored, and managed.
  • Lead Kaizen, VSM, and A3 efforts with OPEX to capture productivity, labor, and quality gains—and replicate them across facilities.
  • Specify, order, and commission controls and equipment upgrades; assess existing assets for safety, cost, and throughput.
  • Apply root cause analysis to eliminate recurring misses; document fixes and results in monthly reports.
  • Create training content and deliver sessions for operators, leaders, and maintenance; raise capability at the point of production.
  • Partner with Product Engineering on testing, prototypes, and samples to enable new product introductions without sacrificing stability.

Where you’ll do it

Preferred: Alsip, Illinois. Also possible: Houston, Texas.

What you need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum 5 years in plastic blow molding (required).
  • Hands-on command of electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, air compressors, chillers, and PLCs; comfortable making on-the-fly adjustments.
  • Demonstrated cycle-time optimization and cost savings achievements.
  • Lean/CI mindset; rigorous attention to safety and quality.
  • Strong plastics materials and process knowledge, plus excellent documentation and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Collaborative communicator who can influence across plants and functions.
  • Ability and willingness to travel required.
