Contract Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a Contracts Manager to lead and oversee all contractual, commercial, and claims-related activities across the organization. This role is responsible for establishing contract management standards, providing strategic guidance to project teams, and ensuring consistent contractual compliance and risk control across all projects. The successful candidate will manage contracts teams at head office and project level, support senior management in commercial decision-making, and safeguard the company’s contractual and financial interests.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and manage all contract management activities across the company from head office.
  • Establish, implement, and continuously improve contract administration procedures, policies, and best practices.
  • Oversee contracts from pre-award through post-award, ensuring consistency and compliance across all projects.
  • Review, interpret, and advise on contract terms, conditions, scope of work, and commercial risks.
  • Provide strategic support during tendering, contract negotiations, and subcontractor appointments.
  • Supervise and guide contracts, commercial, and claims teams across multiple projects.
  • Monitor and manage contractual correspondence, variations, extensions of time, claims, and change orders.
  • Ensure contractual obligations, deliverables, and milestones are fulfilled by internal teams and external parties.
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks and proactively advise mitigation strategies to senior management.
  • Lead high-level negotiations with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Support dispute resolution, claims strategy, and defense in coordination with legal advisors.
  • Prepare consolidated contractual, commercial, and risk reports for executive management.
  • Coordinate closely with legal, finance, procurement, and operations to ensure full contractual compliance.
  • Maintain oversight of contract documentation systems, records, notices, and commercial controls.
  • Act as the primary contractual authority and escalation point for complex commercial matters.


Qualifications & Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in a senior Contracts Manager or Commercial Manager role within construction or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong command of standard forms of contract (FIDIC or similar) and contract administration procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing contracts or commercial teams.
  • Proven expertise in claims management, variations, extensions of time, and dispute resolution.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical ability with a high level of commercial awareness.
  • Ability to interpret complex legal and technical documentation.
  • Highly organized with strong reporting, documentation, and governance capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at a corporate level.
