Job Description: Contract Manager – Mining


The Contract Manager will oversee the administration, negotiation, and management of mining-related contracts to ensure compliance, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with project and operational objectives. This role requires strong commercial acumen, knowledge of mining operations and supply chain, and the ability to manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize contracts for mining operations, including procurement, construction, services, and supply agreements.
  • Manage the full contract lifecycle from tendering and award to execution, performance monitoring, and close-out.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, safety standards, and regulatory obligations.
  • Work closely with project managers, operations, legal, finance, and procurement teams to support mining projects and operational contracts.
  • Monitor contractor performance against KPIs, service-level agreements, and budget commitments.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate commercial, financial, and legal risks associated with contracts.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations on contract status, performance, and dispute resolution.
  • Manage contract claims, variations, extensions, and disputes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support cost control, forecasting, and budgeting by providing accurate contract-related information.
  • Foster strong relationships with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to support long-term collaboration and performance.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience (5–10 years) in contract management, preferably within the mining, heavy industry, oil & gas, or construction sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, or other standard contract frameworks.
  • Understanding of mining operations, supply chain logistics, and project execution.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in contract management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
