Wood is recruiting an experienced Contracts Lead for its Commercial team in the Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The role is full time and based at our Abu Dhabi office.

Responsibilities

The Contracts Lead manages all contractual and commercial aspects of EPC project contracts, including contract administration, change management, claims management and ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions to protect the company's commercial interests.

  • Administer EPC contracts in accordance with obligations, company policies and project procedures.
  • Review and interpret contract terms, conditions and technical specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements by all project stakeholders.
  • Provide contractual advice to project management and project teams.
  • Manage variation orders and contract amendments.
  • Evaluate change requests and assess commercial and contractual impacts.
  • Prepare variation proposals for clients and subcontractors.
  • Identify potential contractual risks and claims.
  • Prepare and submit claims related to delays, disruptions, scope changes and additional costs.
  • Review and respond to claims received from subcontractors or vendors.
  • Support preparation of tender documents, contracts and commercial terms.
  • Participate in bid evaluations and contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure alignment with project commercial strategy.
  • Monitor contract performance and ensure obligations are fulfilled.
  • Identify contractual risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain contract records, correspondence and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law or Business Administration.
  • 10-15 years of client facing contracting experience in oil & gas, energy or large infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of contract review, drafting and negotiation in a service company environment.
  • Understanding of contracting principles and drafting of contracting policies.
  • Knowledge of company finance and P&O systems.
  • Awareness of corporate and project procedures.
  • Excellent understanding of client contract structures, principles and policies.
