Contracts Officer - Pre Contract - Construction

Purpose

The primary purpose of a contracts engineer in a construction company is to protect the company's financial and legal interests throughout the project lifecycle. They serve as the critical bridge between the technical, on-site construction work and the legal and commercial agreements that govern it. Their goal is to ensure that all parties adhere to the contract, mitigate risks, and maximize profitability while avoiding or resolving disputes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The duties of a contracts engineer on a construction project are broad and dynamic, often requiring a blend of technical, legal, and commercial skills. Their responsibilities can be categorized into the following key areas:

1. Contract Administration and Management

- Drafting and Reviewing: Participate in drafting and reviewing contracts and subcontracts to ensure all terms and conditions are fair, clear, and protect the company's interests.

- Contract Negotiation: Collaborate with , subcontractors, to negotiate contract terms, payment schedules, and project deliverables.

- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain a comprehensive and organized record of all contractual documents, correspondence, meeting minutes, and change orders. This documentation is crucial for audits and potential disputes.

2. Commercial Oversight

- Variations and Change Orders: Manage all project variations, changes, and claims. This involves assessing the validity of claims, quantifying their financial impact, and negotiating equitable solutions.

4. Project Coordination and Communication

- Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for all contractual communications between the construction team, consultants, and subcontractors.

- Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on the contractual and commercial status of the project to senior management and other stakeholders.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED8,000.00 per month
