Job Description/Person Specification

(Purpose of the role, briefly state the primary duties and responsibilities of this position)

Operate and monitor the operations of all equipment and machines

Coordinate with O&M team in executing activities

Manage outsourcing activities for areas concerning the breakdown and annual outages of the stations

Develop Standard Operating Procedures for operation activities

Oversee other technical areas, as and when required

Act as an incident commander and HSE representative

Extend support to shift in-charge

Responsible to operate/look after full plant

To communicate with Load Dispatch Centre about the delivery and demand.

To communication with the suppliers of Gas and Water as required

To declare Power availabilities.

Plant startup and shutdown as per requirements

Raise work orders in CMMS about the plant defects

Finalizing and planning for next day activities with maintenance team.

Prepare and issue safety permits for maintenance jobs on the plant.

Help and mentor new CREs.

Supervise the plants for safe operation and shutdown.

Take actions to keep the plant in safe and efficient running conditions.

Guide field engineers and chemist and process engineers in performing their duties.

Perform equipment scheduled changeovers with the help of field engineers.

Prepare all required reports

Initiate trip reports ( in case of major problem or trip of any unit for further investigation)

Generate monthly invoice for Power

Verification of water and Gas received from the respective suppliers

To participate in one of committees or taskforces.

Perform special task given by area Line manager.

Perform Root Cause Analysis as and when required.

Follow safety, perform walk downs, close near misses.

Provide supervision and direction to the subordinates towards achievement of strategic unit’s objectives

Provide input in matters relating to recruitment, termination and promotion of staff

Provide input to employee-training schedule to improve efficiency and ensure conformity with standard procedures and practices

Provide input to employee development plans and monitor employee performance

Facilitate team development activities and ensure a sound work culture within the Operations function.

Respond to Power Plant disturbances (e.g.: Gas Turbine Trip; Rectifier or Transformer Trip).

In the absence of the Shift Charge Engineer, administer the safety rules. As required, deputies for the Shift Charge Engineer.

Apply engineering knowledge and skills to review and update SOPs. Implement initiatives to address

inconsistencies in SOPs, practices and documentation.

Maintain filing system, including version control.

Coach the Analysts and others on plant technology, safe work procedures and operational techniques to ensure proper execution of Plant routines.

Fulfil the duties of an Authorized Person.

Take regular routine readings; respond appropriately to ensure safe, efficient power supply
