Lead Financial Strategy for a Growing Luxury Homebuilder

True North Homes is a luxury custom homebuilder based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, building high-end custom and luxury spec homes across three affiliated brands. Our homes are not production builds; each project is unique, design-driven, and detail-intensive. We pride ourselves on honesty, transparency, efficiency, and exceptional craftsmanship.


We're hiring a Controller to lead and scale our financial operations across multiple affiliated companies. This is a high-impact role for a hands-on leader who enjoys improving systems and building structure in a fast-growing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate financial statements, reports, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and manage company budgets in collaboration with department heads.
  • Monitor variances between actual performance and approved budgets and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Implement robust internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure accuracy.
  • Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of findings.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general bookkeeping.
  • Oversee payroll, tax preparation, and filing obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, labor laws, and relevant financial regulations.
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory and stakeholder reports in a timely manner.
  • Supervise both on-site and remote accounting teams, providing mentorship and professional development.
  • Collaborate with executives to align financial operations with business strategy.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial software systems.
  • Drive technology adoption (e.g., AI, SQL, scripting, low-code platforms) to
  • Improve efficiency and accuracy of financial data and reporting.

Qualifications

  • CPA preferred (or equivalent experience: MBA, strong tax/accounting background)
  • 5 to 10 or more years of accounting/finance experience
  • Construction or multi-entity experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in accounting principles and regulations
  • Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of spreadsheet functions, including lookups, pivot tables, external data linking, etc.
  • Strong experience with financial software and tools; knowledge of SQL, scripting, or AI is a plus.
  • Comfortable leading younger, tech-driven teams
  • Proven track record of managing both on-site and remote teams.
  • Ability to execute long-term projects and implement new processes in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to independently identify deficiencies in business processes and proactively address them.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time, W2 Employment
  • Pay: $80,000 to $130,000 annually (based on experience)
