Controller

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial management to support the organization's goals. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and the ability to lead a team effectively.

Duties

• Lead the preparation and review of comprehensive financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
• Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations using software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, cash management strategies, and ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements for government agencies and non-profit organizations.
• Implement and maintain internal controls aligned with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and double-entry bookkeeping to maintain precise financial records.
• Prepare detailed financial reports, analysis, and presentations for executive leadership and board members to support strategic decision-making.
• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and other regulatory reviews with auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Supervise finance staff responsible for accounts payable, payroll processing, and account reconciliation activities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in financial processes through automation and adoption of advanced financial software solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred but not required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including supervisory experience.
• Proven experience in a Controller or similar role within a corporate environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including debits and credits
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar ERP systems. Experience with Epicor’s Prophet 21 a plus.)
• Strong knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and cash flow management.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasting processes, and technical accounting issues such as revenue recognition and accrual management is highly desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
