Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting practices. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of financial management, including compliance with regulatory standards, financial reporting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting principles, extensive experience with financial software, and a passion for driving organizational success through precise financial oversight. As a key member of our accounting team, you will champion transparency, accuracy, and efficiency across financial functions.
Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide meaningful commentary to leadership
- CPA Liaison: Coordinate with the external CPA to provide accurate internal data for tax planning, compliance audits, and year-end reporting
Accounting Operations
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions
- Ensure proper revenue recognition and expense matching
- Manage cash flow monitoring and bank reconciliations
Revenue Cycle & Family Liaison
- Private Pay Ownership: Lead the invoicing and collection process for high-value private-pay accounts, serving as the empathetic primary point of contact for families regarding financial plans.
- Billing Supervision: Provide direct supervision and workflow coordination for the Billing & UR Specialist, ensuring insurance claims are processed efficiently to maximize cash flow.
- AR Strategy: Monitor aging accounts and proactively resolve complex billing disputes or custom payment negotiations to ensure consistent liquidity..
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Design, implement, and maintain internal control procedures
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as primary liaison with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with tax filing requirements and regulatory obligations
Team Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
- Establish departmental goals, workflows, and performance standards
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
Systems & Process Improvement
- Evaluate and optimize accounting systems and processes
- Implement technology solutions to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities
- Document policies and procedures for all accounting functions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration required.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or business office management.
- Proven ability to oversee complex billing cycles and financial reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate sensitive financial conversations with families in crisis.
- Preferred: Experience in a healthcare or residential treatment setting.
