Job Summary
The Controller will lead the accounting team with responsibilities include developing and implementing and/or maintaining one or a combination of generally accepted accounting systems, preparing and analyzing financial reports and journal entries, maintaining and reconciling ledger accounts, and providing records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions. This position will also play a key role in streamlining accounting processes, improving operational efficiency, supporting financial strategy, and assisting company leadership in achieving organizational goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform basic accounting procedures (e.g., A/R, A/P, time billing, G/L, tax payments, and inventory control)
- Prepare financial statements (e.g., monthly and quarterly financial reports, and weekly forecasts for the management team summarizing current and projected financial position)
- Lead month-end and quarterly closings, including preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and investment transactions in conjunction with preparing quarterly reports for management
- Assist with annual financial audits by serving as company liaison with external auditors
- Communicate with customers to address any past due invoices on their account
- Produce financial data and ad-hoc reports for the management team and assist with other special accounting projects as needed
- Perform monthly analysis of operations to identify variances and trends
- Ensure all active projects are covered by valid, binding contracts
- Revenue recognition: Oversee the revenue recognition process to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve internal accounting policies, procedures, and controls
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline reporting, reconciliation, and forecasting activities
- Provide strategic financial input and recommendations to leadership to support growth, efficiency, and profitability

Education and/or experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
- CPA license preferred
- Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in public accounting or within construction, roofing, or related industries
Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
