Controller

Job Overview
Hummel Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our accounting practices. The Controller will oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, reporting, internal controls, and compliance with regulatory standards as well as human resources, bonding and insurance. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of construction-related financial processes and software systems. Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
• Oversee financial reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with legal regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers to monitor project costs, budgets, and profitability.
• Coordinate audits with external auditors and implement recommendations for process improvements.
• Supervise finance team members, providing guidance on project scheduling, contracts management, and time management best practices.
• Support project management teams by providing financial insights related to projects.
• Proven experience as a Controller or senior finance leader within the construction industry.
• Extensive knowledge of construction management software including ProLog.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
• Excellent skills in project coordination, contract negotiations, and financial analysis.
• Effective time management skills combined with the ability to lead teams and foster collaboration across departments.
• Responsible for Human Resources and related responsibilities.
• Work with our insurance and bonding agents as required.
