Controller - EMEA/MENA
Position Description
Accounting responsibilities include U.S. GAAP and local statutory accounting and reporting, local country and regional compliance activities, compliance with internal control requirements, and various other financial management responsibilities in the region.
Additionally, as the Finance lead for the Saudi Arabia Regional Headquarters (“RHQ”), you will act as a trusted financial advisor to the RHQ team, playing a critical role in driving the financial health and strategic growth of the organization. You will oversee budgeting, expense management, forecasting, and the review of financial performance, ensuring that financial strategies are not only robust and compliant but also aligned with the company’s business objectives and growth plans. Additionally, you will lead operational and financial reporting, providing insights that shape key business decisions and support long-term success.
You will be reporting to the EMEA Controller.
You will be assigned to certain legal entities in EMEA, including the RHQ and others in the Middle East and North Africa (“MENA”) region, as well as certain regional processes.
Responsibilities include the following related to those entities and processes:
- Leadership and oversight of the monthly and quarterly U.S. GAAP close process, ensuring that accounts are maintained accurately in accordance with U.S. GAAP, managing to corporate deadlines and reporting requirements, analyzing results, and ensuring compliance with and effectiveness of quality control processes
- Leadership and oversight of the annual statutory accounts filing process, including coordination with audit firms and other accounting, legal, tax providers and company directors necessary for completion of the filing process
- Managing compliance activities from a corporate governance point of view in coordination with the BMC EMEA Legal team
- Participation in quarterly management meetings with the RHQ leadership team, including the General Manager
- Relationship management and engagement of various third-party service providers for the provision of services for accounting, advisory, audit, tax, etc.
- Leadership of the finance function for the Saudi Arabia RHQ, including:
o Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accurate financial projections and effective cost management, partnering with the Corporate finance team
o Oversee operational and financial reporting, delivering actionable insights to executive leadership and ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant reporting
o Review financial performance against strategic goals, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring strategic alignment with broader business objectives, in conjunction with the Corporate and Business Unit (“BU”) finance teams
o Partner closely with BU finance teams to understand how BU priorities (e.g., topline growth, product roadmaps, R&D initiatives, sales plays) impact spending plans and forecasts
o Liaise with Corporate and BU finance teams to provide financial guidance to sales and business leaders on pricing strategies, gross margin expectations, and profitability analysis for sales proposals and quotes
o Oversee and review the process for consistently and accurately reporting gross margin trends by customer, product, and geography
o Support annual and long-range planning activities, including zero-based budgeting, business planning, and support acquisitions, mergers, and divestments
o Maintain a comprehensive quarterly reporting package of core performance metrics, highlighting trends and opportunities for operational improvement
- Management of Service Level agreements and Operating Level agreements with Shared Services management located in Pune, India
- Encourage and drive opportunities for process improvement to maximize efficiency and maintain quality
- Influence a robust process to keep abreast of applicable local accounting and tax requirements and U.S. GAAP requirements and integrate these into EMEA accounting processes and policies
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the Corporate Accounting group and other Regional Accounting peers across the world, as well as other key functional leadership members globally
- Leadership and oversight of internal control compliance processes, including performance and monitoring of monthly controls, and overall coordination to ensure clear visibility of current status and risks; interface with Corporate Internal Audit and assist in assessing controls and procedures as they relate to areas of responsibility and recommend and drive changes where required
- Oversight of tax accounting tasks in cooperation with the EMEA Tax department, to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and statutory tax accounting requirements
