Controller, Richmond, VA

Integrity Environmental Solutions is seeking an experienced Controller to lead day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This individual will play a key role in maintaining the accuracy of financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring the organization’s financial processes and controls remain strong.

Our ideal candidate has Sage Intacct experience and is able to work in office in Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Oversee core accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and cash management.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting processes.
  • Supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate recording of financial activity and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to protect company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, tax requirements, and audit standards.
  • Analyze financial results, trends, and variances to support planning and operational decision-making.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend practical solutions to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Communicate financial information clearly to internal leadership and external partners.
  • Support annual audits and work closely with outside accounting professionals.
  • Assist with process improvements, systems enhancements, and financial technology implementations.
  • Mentor and develop team members to support professional growth and strengthen department performance.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing accounting teams.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and general accounting practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software and financial systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multiple departments, or operating entities.
  • Experience operating in multiple states
  • Experience with ERP implementation, optimization, or system upgrades.
  • Experience with Sage Intact, Build-Ops, or Miter
