Job Description:

In this role, you'll be a key contributor on a cross-functional Agile team responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) software for automated manufacturing equipment. The Controls Engineer will focus on implementing control systems that drive the behavior of machinery while ensuring safety, reliability, and optimal performance. You’ll work collaboratively with electrical and mechanical engineers to build and refine cutting-edge industrial equipment used in component manufacturing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain PLC software for automated cutting and assembly equipment

  • Interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to design control logic

  • Configure and integrate Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians during prototype builds and field support

  • Support deployment, debugging, and continuous improvement of equipment software

  • Assist with troubleshooting issues during machine commissioning or production

  • Maintain and update technical documentation, including logic flowcharts and wiring diagrams

  • Participate in peer review sessions of solutions and related code, ensure software quality throughout the complete SDLC

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field

  • 3–5 years of experience in PLC development for industrial machinery

  • Proficiency in ladder logic and structured text using platforms such as Schneider, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff

  • Complete understanding of multiple SDLC

  • Familiarity with HMI configuration tools such as FactoryTalk View, WinCC, or similar

  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.)

  • Basic understanding of safety standards related to industrial automation (e.g., ISO 13849)

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN)

  • Excellent problem solving and strong analytical skills, ability to work on complex development tasks and large modules/features

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills; ability to generate and deliver presentations

  • Ability to work in a team or independently, able to coach new or less experienced developers in day-to-day operations, as well as technical knowledge
