Job Title: Convent Administrator
Location: Merion Station, PA
Employment Type: Full-Time (30+ hours per week)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $100,000 – $140,000
The Convent Administrator provides mission-driven leadership, strategic oversight, and daily operational management of a non-licensed retirement facility serving the Sisters of Mercy. This role ensures high-quality, compassionate care for residents; regulatory compliance; financial stewardship; and a respectful, supportive work environment for staff.
Guided by the mission and charism of the Sisters of Mercy, the Administrator oversees all clinical and non-clinical operations and serves as a key liaison with Sisters, families, healthcare partners, agencies, and organizational leadership. The role requires a balance of operational expertise, strong leadership, and deep respect for faith-based community life.

Operations Management
Provide overall leadership and direction to ensure safe, effective, resident-centered care.
Direct daily operations of all assigned departments, which may include Nursing, Maintenance, Dining, Housekeeping, Recreation, Pastoral Care, and Support Services.
Ensure facility safety, security, infection control, and emergency preparedness.
Maintain regulatory compliance, risk management practices, IT systems oversight, and security measures.
Serve as the primary contact for emergencies and collaborate with leadership on operational and strategic planning.
Sister Care and Community Life
Provide mission-aligned oversight of Sister care and serve as a primary point of contact for Sisters.
Oversee care coordination, including conferences, rehabilitation, transitions, discharge planning, and end-of-life support in collaboration with Pastoral Care.
Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers and partner agencies.
Ensure adequate staffing, resources, and programming to support the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of the Sisters in accordance with Ethical and Religious Directives (ERDs).
Address concerns promptly, respectfully, and compassionately.
Leadership and Staff Development
Recruit, hire, and retain qualified staff across all departments.
Oversee staffing, scheduling, time-off requests, and contract services.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and all applicable state and federal regulations.
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and leadership support to promote a positive, mission-aligned workplace culture and professional development.
Financial and Administrative Stewardship
Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
Monitor financial performance and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.
Provide regular operational, financial, and program updates to organizational leadership.
Required
Active Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license in the state of employment.
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, business, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in long-term care or a related setting (healthcare, geriatrics, religious community, pastoral care, or social services).
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and experience managing multi-departmental operations.
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Experience with budgeting and financial planning.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer systems.
Preferred
Master’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, or a related field.
Experience in a faith-based or mission-driven senior care organization.
Familiarity with QAPI programs, electronic health records, and budget management.
Prior experience in a healthcare or religious organization.
Understanding of the traditions, culture, and teachings of the Sisters of Mercy and the Catholic Church.
