Job Summary:
Responsibilities include monitoring the preparation of food and cleaning of areas; maintaining records; and assisting in menu planning.
Job Duties:

Assigns and monitors employees during food preparation. Ensures that the cleaning of both service area and equipment is satisfactorily accomplished. Maintains records of servings prepared and consumed, food types and quantities used, and food remaining after each meal to account for the depletion of all supplies. Oversees special events such as Banquets. Assists the food service manager in menu planning and inventory.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises one (1) to fifteen (15) employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

High school education; or general education degree (GED).


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Three (3) years of cooking experience with one (1) of those years in a supervisory position.


COMPUTER SKILLS

None required.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must obtain a Food Handlers Card and be certified in CPR and first aid within three (3) months of employment.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


Work Hours: M-F 6AM-2:30PM; 30 min lunch
