About the Main Kitchen

The Main Kitchen at Hyatt Regency Tamaya is the heart of our culinary operation, providing essential support to all resort dining outlets—including Corn Maiden, Rio Bar & Grill, Santa Ana Cafe, in‑room dining, and seasonal venues. In addition, the Main Kitchen oversees culinary preparation for banquets, weddings, meetings, and large-scale events, ensuring exceptional food quality for functions ranging from intimate gatherings to large corporate conferences. Our team takes pride in delivering consistent, high-quality cuisine that reflects the spirit, culture, and hospitality of Tamaya.

Position Summary

The Bake Shop is the creative heart behind all pastries, baked goods, and specialty desserts at Hyatt Regency Tamaya. This dedicated team produces fresh danishes, croissants, desserts, and signature treats served across the resort—including Corn Maiden, Rio Bar & Grill, banquets and events, in-room dining, and our morning favorite, The Trading Post. Guests delight in fresh pastries, each morning and in beautifully crafted desserts that elevate every dining and event experience at Tamaya.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and bake daily pastries including danishes, muffins, croissants, rolls
  • Follow established recipes and pastry techniques to ensure product consistency and quality
  • Assist in decorating, garnishing, and plating desserts to meet Hyatt and Tamaya presentation standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper rotation of all ingredients and products.
  • Monitor ovens, proofers, and equipment to ensure accurate baking times and temperatures.
  • Label, date, and store all products according to food safety and HACCP standards.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of pastry or baking experience preferred; culinary or pastry training is a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic pastry production, dough handling, proofing, and baking techniques.
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes and perform precise measurements.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a time‑sensitive environment.
  • Ability to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for pastry arts are highly valued.
