The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) Programs Coordinator facilitates outreach programming, including CSE camps and summer bridge activities, and coordinates internship activities for CSE departments. The CSE Programs Coordinator will also provide leadership as the Director of the Science & Engineering Residential College (SERC). Activities will include working with the CSE Dean’s office, faculty, staff, and partners to develop and implement programming, including recruitment, logistics, budget management, assessment, and reporting. This individual will also cultivate and coordinate internship opportunities for CSE programs.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
One year of relevant experience in program coordination, STEM education, and/or higher education.
Experience working directly with high school and/or undergraduate students.
Capacity to build positive, collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, including external partners and the CMU community.
Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports to assess program effectiveness and impact.
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills, including managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects.
Willingness to perform occasional evening and weekend work.
Demonstrated organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise independent judgment.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Three years of experience in program coordination, STEM education, and/or higher education.
Demonstrated ability to manage and grow educational outreach programs.
Record of successful collaboration with stakeholders in STEM education initiatives.
Knowledge of STEM programs and the needs of undergraduate students in STEM programs.
Experience in identifying and securing funding for educational programs.
Experience in event management and working with large-scale groups.

Duties & Responsibilities
Plans, executes, and evaluates K-12 STEM outreach programs aligned with CSE’s mission.
Assists with the planning, executing, and evaluating summer engineering bridge programs.
Collaborates with faculty and staff in CSE to identify and secure funding sources for CSE outreach programs.
Collaborates with CSE departments and CMU offices, including University Events, Risk Management, University Communications, Residence Life, and the Center for Excellence in STEM Education.
Manages budget tracking and administrative tasks related to programs.
Tracks and reports outreach program-appropriate metrics and submits annual reports to CSE.
Improves student access to external internship opportunities through collaboration with faculty, staff, campus stakeholders, and external partners.
Tracks and reports internship program-appropriate metrics and submit annual reports to CSE.
Directs the Science & Engineering Residential College (SERC), including setting long-term strategic goals for recruiting and retaining undergraduate students in the SERC and developing and implementing initiatives to achieve the program’s goals.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
