OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of a supervisory official within the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office, this position administers and implements the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program to ensure victims of sexual assault receive prompt, sensitive, and coordinated services. The Coordinator oversees forensic evidence collection practices, develops and monitors procedures, and supervises nurse examiners while ensuring program compliance with applicable standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate development,
review, and implementation of policies and procedures related to forensic exams
and victim services
Ensure program goals and
service standards are met and continuously improved
Recruit, train, schedule,
supervise, and evaluate Nurse Examiners.
Conduct and oversee
physical and forensic examinations of sexual assault victims.
Maintain chain of custody
for evidentiary materials and documentation.
Serve as liaison among
hospitals, law enforcement, prosecutors, and community partners.
Provide training,
education, and outreach to stakeholders and the community.
Establish and maintain
hospital agreements and training opportunities.
Manage program data,
reports, and budget activities, including funding opportunities.
Performs
other related duties as required to support the mission of the Mercer County
Prosecutor's Office.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education
Graduation from an
accredited school of professional nursing recognized by the New Jersey Board of
Nursing.
Experience
Three (3) years of
nursing experience in emergency medicine, women's health, or critical care.
Licensure &
Certifications
Valid New Jersey
Professional Nurse license
Completion of Sexual
Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training
Forensic Nurse –
Certified Sexual Assault (FN-CSA) certification
Valid New Jersey driver's
license (if required for position duties)
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of
nursing practices, forensic procedures, and patient care standards
Familiarity with evidence
preservation and medical documentation
Ability to supervise
staff and coordinate program operations
Effective collaboration
with multidisciplinary partners
Ability to prepare
reports, maintain records, and deliver training
Proficiency with
electronic information systems
