Coordinator, Technology Training Programs

Overview
The New York Public Library (NYPL) is looking for a talented Program Coordinator to join our expanding technology training team and help New Yorkers improve their digital literacy. The Coordinator will work cross-functionally to support the design and implementation of new educational offerings, provide complex data analysis, assist with funding reports (grant, donor, project), and manage various projects. This position is for someone interested in community development through education.

NYPL offers technology classes, both online and in-person at more than 80 libraries across the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island. Topics include MS Office, Internet basics, coding languages, graphic design, 3D printing, audio production, video production, podcasting, and more.

We are looking for someone we can count on to:

Own:
  • Project management, including developing processes for prioritization and enhancements to meet needs and strategic goals
Teach:
  • Best practices related to program evaluation and data analysis
Learn:
  • New and emerging technologies to be incorporated into the department initiatives and the classroom/computer lab setting
Improve:
  • Workflows for peak efficiency
Some expectations for this role are that within:

1 month, this person will:
  • Onboard, visit branches, interact with stakeholders including Library Managers, create goals with their manager
3 months, this person will:
  • Manage grant-based projects and liaise with internal and external stakeholders/partners
6 months and beyond, this person will:
  • Identify and provide solutions for gaps in service, and support NYPL initiatives
Responsibilities:
As a Program Coordinator, you will:
  • Provide support for the department by maintaining and analyzing data on program metrics including survey data, assessing impact, and compiling reports
  • Conduct and facilitate departmental risk assessments
  • Assist the Associate Director with the implementation of innovative tools for efficient project management
  • Manage correspondence with patrons
  • Initiate outreach with potential partners and/or organizations to create new opportunities while maintaining existing relationships
  • Support departmental events, outreach, and promotional activities
  • Growth mindset when receiving and incorporating feedback from leaders and peers
  • Perform other related duties as required

Required Education, Experience & Skills


Required Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of additional related experience required
Required Experience
  • 2+ years of experience teaching, instructing and/or training adults technology or related programs
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technology and technology trends
  • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively across many different Library departments
  • Ability to shift gears in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds
  • Familiarity with communities being served, with knowledge and understanding of local needs and resources
  • Outstanding interpersonal and written skills, including listening and communicating authentically and effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including branch staff and external partners
  • Strong aptitude for learning new and emerging technologies quickly
