Position Overview:
The Corporate Controller will lead the company’s accounting and financial planning functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, comprehensive forecasting, and strategic budgeting. This role is critical in driving financial discipline, supporting decision-making, and maintaining compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee general ledger management, month-end and year-end close processes, and preparation of consolidated financial statements
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals to ensure timely filings and compliance
- Assist with compliance reporting requirements and coordination of year-end tax returns
- Oversee monthly expense chargebacks to the properties and follow up on collections
- Enhance the management reporting packages summarizing operating results and key performance indicators
- Maintain internal controls and reporting guidelines to ensure accuracy
- Reconciliation of intercompany between the corporate entities and the properties
Cash Flow Management
- Maintain rolling cash flow forecasts and weekly reporting of cash positions
- Ensure timely collections and vendor payments in line with contractual terms
- Collaborate with accounting staff on daily cash reconciliations across bank accounts
Budgeting
- Own the budgeting process, including timeline management, template creation, and consolidation
- Partner with department heads to align budgets with strategic goals
- Monitor budget performance and recommend corrective actions
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Enhance internal control systems and ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies
- Implement process improvements and automation to increase efficiency
- Develop procedures for improved management of corporate credit card transactions
Special Projects
- Lead or support ad hoc financial and operational initiatives, including acquisitions and system implementations
- Provide analytical support for strategic planning and cross-functional efforts
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
- 10-15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and FP&A, with experience in real estate and construction
- Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic analysis
- Experience with construction accounting and intercompany reconciliations
- Advanced Excel skills; proficiency in Yardi Voyager required, Avid is a plus
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Compensation and Benefits:
