The Opportunity

Hyatt seeks an enthusiastic Corporate Counsel-Employment to join our Corporate Affairs & Legal Department. In this role, you will be responsible for providing proactive and practical legal advice on all aspects of employment law and human resources matters affecting Hyatt’s hotel and corporate operations. You will manage a broad range of employment litigation and claims. The Role

  • Advise HR, management, and operations teams on employment-related issues, including hiring, discipline, terminations, wage and hour compliance, accommodations, discrimination, and workplace investigations.
  • Draft, review, and update employment agreements, policies, and handbooks to ensure compliance with evolving laws and best practices.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders on the development and implementation of employment-related programs, initiatives, and training.
  • Manage and oversee employment litigation and administrative charges, working closely with outside counsel.
  • Monitor and analyze developments in federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Support compliance and ethics initiatives, including investigations and audits.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a law firm or corporate law department of national reputation, with a focus on employment litigation and/or counseling.
  • A Juris Doctorate and license to practice in a jurisdiction within the United States.
  • Demonstrated track record of taking accountability for outcomes.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders through strong communication skills and credible legal advice.
  • Brings a proactive mindset and thoughtful preparation to their work, fostering trust and confidence across teams.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills who can build connections with people at all levels.
  • This is a hybrid role. Candidates should be located within a reasonable commuting distance of the Chicago corporate office.

The salary range for this position is $175,000 -$200,000. This position is also eligible to earn incentive awards and an annual bonus.

The final pay rate/salary offered to the successful candidate will depend on experience, skill level and other qualifications for the role, as well as the location of the performance of work. Pay for the successful candidate will meet local requirements, including the local minimum wage rate.
