We have an exciting opportunity for a lawyer to join the dynamic legal department of a major engineering, construction and technical services company. The opportunity is for individuals with 3 to 7 years of post-qualification experience. The candidate should have first rate academic qualifications and practical experience (the latter gained either in-house or from a leading law firm) preferentially in the Engineering, Construction and professional services sector and must be keen to be challenged in a fast-paced, commercial environment. Legal Team

Worldwide, the group's legal team consists of around 180 employees and 14 of these are based in India. The Europe legal team comprises 26 employees who support and advise the business on many aspects of our numerous high-profile projects both in the UK and Europe in our Buildings & Infrastructure (B&I) line of business. The Legal team works closely with our Sales and Operations colleagues and with Management at all levels. This role is supporting the European Buildings & Infrastructure Line of Business.

We are looking to recruit a qualified lawyer with [3 to 7] years of post-qualification experience to support the European legal team based in our Gurugram office.

THE ROLES

Jacobs is a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities. The roles on offer are immensely varied and challenging and will give the successful candidate the chance to make a real contribution to an exciting range of legal and commercial work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks

  • Take responsibility for drafting and negotiation a wide range of professional services contracts, from tender stage to completion, including client contracts, joint venture agreements, teaming agreements, parent company guarantees, sub-contracts and confidentiality agreements.
  • Drafting and updating template documentation e.g. standard terms
  • Assisting with contract management
  • Providing legal and contractual training
  • Advising the business teams about various contractual covenants and potential legal risks
  • Drafting/reviewing of letters (exclusivity, non-exclusive sub-consultant)
  • Internal claims management (ex. for employer’s liability)


Here's what you'll need

The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer with significant relevant experience, a strong academic record and must have trained with a leading law firm or well-respected in-house team. The successful candidates will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to identify risk, good commercial awareness, a strong collaborator with a clear and effective communication style.
