Position Purpose:
Home Depot is seeking an attorney for a manager-level position in the International & Supply Chain group of its law department to help advise and represent the Company in many international trade regulatory matters, primarily related to the Company’s import activity. The person may also support supply chain/logistics contract negotiations and the Company’s anti-bribery and FCPA compliance program. Candidate will support the Associate General Counsel with import regulatory, transactional and supply chain/logistics compliance responsibilities. Candidate will provide regulatory and compliance counseling related to many cutting edge tariff and trade matters. Additionally, this role may other compliance and investigatory work, counseling and research.
Key Responsibilities:
Prosecutes and defends business and real estate claims and lawsuits involving Home Depot.
Collaborates and interacts with outside counsel regarding claims, lawsuits, et. al.
Advises various departments and managers on a diverse range of legal issues.
Supervises and conducts appropriate legal research for all pending legal work.
May draft and file annual disclosure documents with various government agencies.
May manage and track budgets.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
Typically reports to a Associate General Counsel
Areas of specialization are Business Law, Real Estate Law, Employee Relations Law, Litigation, General Liability, and Mergers and Acquisitions.
Travel Requirements:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Under regular pressure to meet deadlines, quotas and/or must frequently deal with difficult issues related to people or situations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
JD from an accredited law school and required certifications for practicing law
7-12 years of experience as an international trade regulatory or similar attorney in a law firm or corporation.
A customer service focus and an ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
International trade regulatory support for company import and export operations.
Current in house or law firm experience with significant import regulatory experience.
Supply Chain contract negotiation skills, FCPA compliance and supply chain regulatory experience are also a plus.
Project management and client service skills, including the ability to work as a team member to maintain project timelines and foster strong relationships with business clients and team members.
Experience analyzing laws, regulations and contract trends for potential impact on applicable business goals and objectives.
Ability to articulate business needs clearly and accurately and present clear and concise solutions allowing business clients to make strategic decisions.
Experience with supply chain visibility, due diligence, and risk, especially with complex supply chains, and strong ability to analyze, reconcile, summarize, and identify issues with voluminous upstream supply chain risk, mapping, and tracing information and documentation.
Proven ability to provide guidance, manage, and support complex and broad international trade regulatory audits, assessments, and reviews.
Competency with AI, especially to identify and implement efficiencies in legal and international trade regulatory matters.
The ability to vet and manage outside service providers in the international trade regulatory, contract, anti-bribery/FCPA, and supply chain visibility areas.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and with AI tools
Minimum Education:
The completion of a Juris Doctor or equivalent and required certifications for practicing law.
