About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to promote and protect the interests of Australia internationally. This involves working with international partners and other countries to tackle global challenges, increase trade and investment opportunities, keep our region stable and help Australians overseas.
The department also manages Australia’s international presence, a network of over 120 embassies, high commissions, consulates-general and representative offices across five continents.
About the Position
Under direction from the Corporate Services Manager, the Corporate Services Officer coordinates key operational functions, particularly protocol and HR support, and supports the daily activities of two Corporate Services Administrators. The role provides back-up to the Corporate Services Manager, ensuring continuity of service across core corporate functions.

A. Demonstrable experience working in a client services role with responsibilities in a range of areas, backed up by organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
B. Proven decision-making skills with the ability to exercise discretion and good judgement in applying legislation, policies and guidelines, including diplomatic protocol and conditions of service.
C. Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, aimed at offering an efficient service to clients at all levels.
D. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Turkish and ability to tailor messages to different clients and stakeholders.
E. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel with the ability to manage electronic records whilst maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
