Corporate Tax Accountant

Summary

Responsible for ensuring the organization complies with tax laws and regulations by preparing filings, managing tax reporting processes, identifying tax risks and opportunities, and coordinating with internal teams and external advisors.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file federal, state/provincial, local, and international tax returns and related schedules.
  • Research tax issues and interpret tax laws, regulations, and pronouncements to ensure correct tax treatment.
  • Manage tax provision and tax accounting (ASC 740 / IAS 12) calculations and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare or review quarterly and annual tax provision workpapers and reconciliations; support external audits.
  • Monitor tax compliance calendar; ensure timely filing and payment of taxes.
  • Coordinate with payroll, accounts payable, treasury, and finance on tax withholding, sales/use tax, VAT/GST, and other tax areas.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and implement process improvements to minimize tax liabilities and exposure.
  • Respond to tax notices, audits, and inquiries from tax authorities; coordinate with tax counsel as needed.
  • Maintain tax records and documentation; implement and document controls for tax processes.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and other transactions with tax analysis and due diligence.
  • Stay current on tax law changes and assess impact on the company.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field; Master’s or LL.M. in Tax preferred for senior roles.
  • CPA, EA, or equivalent tax credential preferred.
  • Typically 3+ years of tax compliance experience for mid-level; 5+ years for senior roles; experience at public accounting firm often preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate income tax, state and local taxes, payroll tax, and indirect taxes (sales/use tax, VAT/GST) as applicable.
  • Familiarity with tax accounting standards (ASC 740, IAS 12) and tax provision software.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with tax software (e.g., OneSource, Vertex, ADP) and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills; attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines.

Pay: QAR900.00 - QAR1,100.00 per hour
