Responsibilities - What you’ll do

This is a highly responsible position contained within Central Transfer Authority in Central Office. There are three main components that this position may entail and is shared with another CCMIII.

  • Review and approve/deny transfers within the State of Missouri, determining appropriate assignments into future institutions. This includes a strong working knowledge of the ICA/RCA and other classification knowledge in order to perform duties as well as assist site staff and others needing information.
  • Review and approve/cancellation of reservation based program referrals. Requires frequent interdivisional communication between P&P, DORS & DAI to ensure timely and accurate bed reservations and transfer of treatment offenders; in addition to communicating with offender family/public, supervisors, courts. Knowledge of the various treatment programs and requirements for each will assist with this position.
  • Review and approve/deny Interstate Corrections Compact transfer requests, both incoming and outgoing with other states. Maintaining this case load includes: ensuring that ICC offenders both in and out of state are being housed safely and appropriately, monthly progress reports are completed, making appropriate notations in computer records, filing, ensure contract requirements are met, setting up transportation, and ensuring timely correspondence with all stakeholders.
  • Assistance with Grievance Unit appeals and special projects within DAI may also occur.

Once trained, daily decisions are not frequently reviewed by supervisor. Therefore this person must be highly organized and independent, detail minded and make sound, logical decisions, while knowing when to request for assistance. Must have extensive working knowledge of the classification manual, and a general understanding of the various security levels and other requirements of DOC facilities. A greater emphasis in computer efficiency is necessary since transfer requests, program referrals and ICC transfer requests are approved/denied without the physical files. Applicants should be able to use OPII, MOCIS, Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook fluently, as well as experience working with electronic folders and various shared network drives.

Qualifications - All you need for success

Minimum Qualifications:

One or more years of experience as a Corrections Case Manager within the Missouri Department of Corrections OR

Six or more years of professional experience in corrections case management, or adult probation and parole case management, or substance use case management of which one or more years must have been within an adult correctional facility.

(Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to four years of the required experience, at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year – a minimum of two years of the listed experience, including one year within an adult correctional facility is required)

Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:

  • A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
  • A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
  • A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years!
