Compensation:

Hourly Pay Range: $23.31 Starting Salary

Pay is commensurate with experience, starting at Pay Grade 27, Step 10.

Internal COI candidate will transfer to WWRF at their current Pay Grade / Step.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:


Position Summary:

A Corrections Officer I supervises and maintains discipline and control of residents at all times. Performs searches and shakedowns of residents, persons, and physical areas in order to prevent and control secretion of contraband. Observes and monitors resident activities and interactions while enforcing policy, rules, and regulations. Follows established security procedure in controlling visitors, staff, resident, and vehicular traffic to prevent the admittance or exit of authorized persons and the introduction of contraband. Takes and reports periodic counts of residents. Responds to emergency situations in accordance with appropriate contingency plans. Subject to regular rotation or post and/or shift assignment within the facility. Corrections Officers are required to weapons qualify under KDOC guidelines during initial training and on an annual basis.


Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise residents in a minimum security prison setting, maintain discipline and control
  • Enforce policy, rules, and regulations
  • Perform searches and shakedowns
  • Observe and monitor resident activities and interactions

Qualifications:

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Licensing & Certification:

  • Valid Driver’s License

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Position open to current KDOC Corrections Officer I or higher wishing to make a transfer to Wichita Work Release Facility.
  • Free from felony conviction(s); free of any felony and/or misdemeanor domestic violence crime, No DUI convictions within the last 24 months
