Corrections Peace Officer

JOB
Reporting directly to a Sergeant or Lieutenant, responsible for supervising inmates and providing care, safety, and security while maintaining rules, regulations, and cleanliness of the Williamson County Jail. Armed assignment.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assists in maintaining security of the correctional and courthouse complex facilitiesReceives, books, and secures inmates upon arrivalConducts daily physical inspections and searches of the facilities, inmates, and visitorsSupervises inmate’s activities (i.e., court appearances, recreation, visitation, meals, etc.)Transports inmates to and from various locationsServes warrants and other legal documents within the JailAssists in responding to emergency calls and routine complaintsMaintains Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) licensing requirements, such as firearms qualifications, continued education, etc.Maintains level of physical fitness necessary to perform the duties of a peace officerPerforms special duties as assignedBailiff AssignmentConducts screens and searches at the entrance of the court facilityEnsures safety of judges and all persons within and surrounding the court facilitiesMaintains security during all court proceedings, including maintaining the custody of inmatesMakes arrests in court at direction of the JudgeTransports inmates, as well as arrested individuals, to the Williamson County Jail and completes all required documentationTransports and guards jury members when necessaryORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPSReports directly to – Sergeant or LieutenantDirect Reports – NoENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Maximum security facility behind locked doorsExposure to individuals accused or convicted of crimes, individuals with risk of illness, and potential biohazardsMay be required to perform some work outdoors in inclement weather (heat, cold, wet conditionsIRREGULAR HOURSWork outside of the normal office hours (Monday – Friday) may be requiredMay be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergencyRegular attendance is requiredThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job.
