Under general supervision, evaluates court orders sentencing state inmates, calculates necessary dates of release/discharge and establishes initial entry into computer program, and updates as necessary. Sets up inmate files using established office procedures. Contacts institution records supervisors to resolve discrepancies between institutional records and central office records. Maintains inmate files on a daily basis by recording disciplinary violations, movements, changes in sentencing, additional sentences, etc. Files documents received for the central office files. Closes and stores files based on receipt of proper documentation releasing inmates from further incarceration (i.e., discharge certificates, court orders, death certificates, etc.). Maintains and monitors listings of inmates granted parole, prepares parole release documents, obtains required signatures, and forwards to the appropriate institution. Answers telephonic inquires from courts, prosecutors, defense attorneys, law enforcement, victims, family members, etc., regarding inmate's status. Enters data in inmate records system in compliance with established office procedure and policy. Compiles statistical reports as required by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work or related behavioral or social science field.
OR
Substitution: Additional full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as described below may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours of required training.
AND
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in a corrections, probation/parole, law enforcement, social work, recreation, religion or related behavioral or social science field.
OR
Substitution: Graduate coursework from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work or related behavioral or social science field may substitute for the required experience at the rate of fifteen (15) semester hours of training for every one (1) year of experience.
