Description
The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population.

The mission of the DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and to provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes. The DOC also provides opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

The Corrections Training Instructor/Coordinator I acts as an institutional training instructor at Green River Correctional Complex.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Prepare for and conduct classroom instruction for correctional and contract employees, pre-service basic academy, and annual in-service training.
  • Research, develop, and revise training materials.
  • Instruct mandated and specialized training.
  • Assist Corrections Training Instructor/Coordinator II with development of in-service programs.
  • Assure all training related documentation are completed and placed in MyPurpose & Employee files.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.


EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience in any operation or program within the field of corrections and/or education.


Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in corrections, justice administration, or law will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.


Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in corrections will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Statewide travel will be required to conduct training programs.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
