We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join our team in our West Valley City, UT, location. This person will be responsible for maintaining accurate costing data, identifying and resolving discrepancies in our general ledger, and working with cross-functional teams to identify best practices and standardize processes across all company locations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and attention to detail, as well as experience leveraging these skills to resolve issues and improve processes.
Maintain accurate cost accounting and monitor daily transactions impacting product costs at multiple sites across the US
Analyze cost data and perform variance analysis on monthly business activities, including raw material purchases, production orders, inventory, and labor
Identify and reconcile inventory discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
Monitor cycle count activity and work with each site to understand what is driving adjustments
Monitor and validate cost of goods sold throughout the month and at month-end
Work with purchasing and operations teams at multiple sites to understand issues, streamline, standardize, and improve processes
Provide guidance and respond to cost inquiries across the business
Prepare and maintain month-end reconciliations for inventory accounts
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Experience in accounting for and analyzing product costs, or a similar prior role
Strong analytical skills and an ability to spot inaccuracies
Ability to organize and analyze large data sets and tell the story behind the numbers
Ability to coordinate and collaborate with other teams to work through and resolve issues
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and experience working in an ERP
Excellent communication skills
Professional certification, such as a CMA or CPA a plus
