Job Summary
The Cost Analyst – Orchard Operations provides analysis to support the cost accounting function within S. Martinelli & Company. This position is a business partner to orchard operations and finance leadership and helps support analytical projects to assist the Company in understanding key cost drivers over the orchard operations area. The position is responsible for continuously improving metrics, system operations, and analyses. The position will support the finance team in executing appropriate financial controls, especially those related to inventory and procurement activities. The role is also responsible for general accounting including monthly close support and reconciliations and must have an understanding of accounts related to the orchard operations area.
Job Functions

Execute the Company’s financial planning process as it relates to cost development. This includes assisting orchard operations leadership in identifying costs drivers and understanding the impacts of business variables on the Company’s cost structure

Support the orchard operations management team in building accurate long-term production and cost forecasts

Provide insightful analysis to inform business decisions around material procurement

Collaborate with the finance team to execute the monthly close process within an SAP environment

Prepare, review and input journal entries

Facilitate the overall accounting of orchard operations acting as a bridge between the finance team, third-party growers, orchard managers and apple yard management to ensure accurate processing and reporting of orchard activity

Create accruals using historic and budgeted rates to estimate activity not received at month-end

Identify accruals that may be needed as a result of other accounting activity

Assist Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable with Orchard Operations billings and invoice coding

Clearly communicate between accounting and operational metrics, acting as the bridge between financial metrics and operational drivers

Develop, and support the development of, presentations for key stakeholders such as lending institutions, the board of directors, and the executive team

Maintain and enhance the Company’s cost drivers and metrics in the financial planning system

Maintain master data around apple materials and growers within an SAP environment

Assist with all audit requirements as they relate to orchard operations

Perform analyses, special projects, and other duties as directed by finance management
Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance

Two years of relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience with SAP or other large-scale ERP system
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

CPA, CMA, or other applicable professional financial certification

Experience in food manufacturing or agricultural goods processing industry

Experience with decision-support systems including Domo and Adaptive Insights

Strong Microsoft Office skills including advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, Index/Match, Complex Analyses, Excel Models) and Word

Upon meeting eligibility requirements, the Company offers the following: health insurance coverage, LTD, 401(k) profit share contributions, paid sick leave, paid vacation leave, and eight (8) paid holidays per year. Pay range: $80,000 /yr. to $95,000/yr.
