Cost Control Engineer

We’re Hiring: Cost Control Engineer

Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory (ASMEF), a subsidiary of Ali & Sons Holding LLC, is a leading provider of engineering, fabrication, and ship repair services for the oil & gas and marine sectors. We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Control Engineer to assist the Senior Cost Controller in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting project costs across multiple company projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Cost Controller in all day-to-day costing functions and ensure smooth functioning of the Cost Control Department.
  • Monitor and analyze all job-related costs for assigned projects.
  • Prepare Cost to Complete (CTC) reports for Work In Progress (WIP) jobs for profit recognition and monthly closing purposes.
  • Interface with Project, Production, and Commercial teams to develop forecasts and analyze project profit/loss.
  • Prepare cost reports for invoicing and management review for allocated projects.
  • Monitor actual project costs against budget and report variances.
  • Review Purchase Orders against budget before issuance to suppliers/subcontractors.
  • Prepare summarized cost reports on weekly, fortnightly, and monthly basis.
  • Monitor project costs booked in SAP and liaise with Finance for cost-related queries.
  • Examine unusual cost records and ensure correct allocation of cost data.
  • Maintain Variation Register for assigned projects.
  • Manage documentation related to Cost Control activities.
  • Understand project contracts, scopes, and establish Cost Breakdown Structures and budget elements.
  • Communicate cost control processes and routines to project teams, ensuring compliance with financial and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with estimators and project teams to ensure alignment on tender budgets.
  • Track project progress proactively and compute Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP) for financial closing and profit recognition.
  • Produce project reports, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis for management.
  • Reconcile forecasted and actual expenditures and advise management of changes impacting project spending.
  • Produce audit reports for internal and external audits.
  • Assist in analysis of variance and impact of change orders on schedule and progress.
  • Calculate and plan Cost to Complete (CTC) for progressive jobs.
  • Ensure all costs are allocated to the correct cost codes and projects.
  • Provide feedback to Estimation Department during project execution and closure.
  • Prepare supplier provisions for major contracts on a monthly basis.
  • Calculate standard rates and DOE periodically for the division.
  • Monitor and report utilization of man-hours against budget and identify remaining unsold hours.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Degree in Commerce or equivalent
  • Experience: 5–10 years of relevant experience in cost control, preferably within oil & gas, marine, or construction projects
  • Technical Skills:
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
