Job Purpose:

To assist in the planning, monitoring, and control of project costs to ensure that the project is completed within the approved budget. The Junior Cost Control Engineer supports the cost control team in collecting data, analyzing variances, and preparing financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of project budgets, cost estimates, and cash flows.
  • Monitor and track project expenditures and actual costs against budgets.
  • Support in analyzing cost variances and identifying areas for cost optimization.
  • Collect and verify data from various departments (Procurement, Engineering, Planning, etc.) for accurate cost tracking.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all cost-related documents and reports.
  • Assist in preparing periodic cost reports and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with quantity surveyors to validate quantities and costs for work completed.
  • Ensure compliance with project budgets, cost codes, and company financial procedures.
  • Help identify and report any potential cost overruns and suggest corrective actions.
  • Support in the preparation of change orders and variations related to cost.
  • Participate in meetings and provide input on cost status as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 2- 4 years of UAE experience in cost control or project controls in a construction environment.
  • Basic understanding of project budgeting, forecasting.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel; knowledge of cost control software (e.g., Primavera, Candy, or SAP) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with contract terms (FIDIC or similar).
  • Team player with a proactive attitude.

Working Conditions:

  • Based at the project site or company headquarters with occasional travel to project locations.
  • May involve extended hours depending on project demands.
