Job Summary
The MEP Cost Control Engineer is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling costs related to Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works across construction projects. The role ensures projects remain within approved budgets by tracking expenditures, forecasting costs, evaluating variations, and supporting procurement and commercial activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesCost Monitoring & Budget Control
- Monitor project budgets for MEP works and track actual costs against planned costs.
- Prepare cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and budget variance analyses.
- Review project progress and identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.
- Maintain updated cost control systems and records.
Estimation & Quantity Verification
- Review MEP BOQs, quantities, and tender documents.
- Verify subcontractor quantities, invoices, and payment applications.
- Support preparation of cost estimates and budget revisions.
- Assist in evaluating quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Procurement & Commercial Support
- Coordinate with procurement teams for material and subcontract package cost tracking.
- Analyze supplier and subcontractor pricing to ensure cost competitiveness.
- Monitor committed costs versus procurement budgets.
- Support contract administration and variation order assessments.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports for management.
- Track variations, claims, and change orders related to MEP works.
- Maintain documentation for audits and commercial reviews.
- Provide dashboards and KPI reports on project financial performance.
Coordination & Project Support
- Coordinate with planning, engineering, and site teams regarding project progress and cost impact.
- Participate in project review meetings.
- Support risk analysis and mitigation related to project costs.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and commercial policies.
Requirements Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in MEP cost control, quantity surveying, or commercial management within construction projects.
- Experience in high-rise, commercial, residential, infrastructure, or industrial projects preferred.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems and construction practices.
- Proficiency in cost control and project management software.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as:
- SAP ERP
- Oracle Primavera
- Candy CCS
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.

Pay: AED8,000.00 - AED12,000.00 per hour
