The Cost and Value Engineering (CVE) function is the driver of cost transparency and optimization for externally purchased material, components, and systems in the SE product portfolio.

As a Cost Engineer, you will drive diverse projects and initiatives. The major objective of Cost and Value Engineering is the generation of high customer value at competitive target costs in product, project and solution business. Generating transparency in the respective cost and value drivers along the entire value chain by applying state of the art Cost and Value Engineering (CVE) methodology.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Integration of Cost and Value Engineering (CVE) into business processes and promotion of cost and value awareness across functions.
  • Creation of cost and value transparency (e.g. through should costing) for components of products and solutions in the business area Transformation of Industry, with contributions to supplier negotiations and improvement initiatives (primary focus on auxiliary systems, such as cooling systems & condensers, within the Industrial Steam Turbines and Generators business)
  • Enhancement of competitiveness and profitability through application of CVE methods.
  • Support in target setting based on customer needs, competitor analysis, and capability assessment.
  • Strengthening of the CVE network and facilitation of knowledge exchange, ensuring cost transparency with suppliers.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering-related major, mechanical engineering or material engineering is preferred.
  • International professional experience, including 5+ years in Engineering or manufacturing, and fluency in English with cross-cultural collaboration experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, combined with analytical capability for cost driver identification.
  • Expertise in should costing methods and realization of cost and value optimization opportunities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office tools, with willingness to travel to suppliers and production sites. Experience working with TcPCM, aPriori and NX is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of steam turbine and generator auxiliary systems, particularly cooling systems and condensers, is preferred.
  • Project management and should-cost-based negotiation experience is a plus

About the Team

The CVE team within the SE TI STG business is a global team across key locations around the world, including Brno (CZ), Goerlitz (DE), Jiundiai (BR) and Vadodara (IN). We drive transparency and optimization to ensure most competitive cost and value for its existing and future product portfolio. We support our internal customers in Product Management during the development of new STG products by enabling data (cost-) based design decisions, and our procurement teams in the negotiation of price agreements and sourcing activities in customer projects based on provision of internal cost calculations (e.g. should costs).
