The Services and Support Operations (SSO) is a global leader of integrated MRO services and support. Cost/Pricing Analyst Specialist (SSO Division: Irvine, CA)
Position Summary

Applies specialized knowledge of cost accounting principles to collect and analyze diverse and complex historical and estimated cost and pricing data. Prepares and analyzes production cost performance data. Utilizes diverse and complex databases, program knowledge, and historical data to prepare unique and complex bids and cost proposals that are economically feasible and competitive. Performs risk analyses and negotiates business proposals.

Essential Functions:

Determines cost of new, unique, or complex products and services by collecting historic and estimated operational data required to cost information necessary for preparation and negotiation of proposals.

Develops cost proposal rationale, cost breakdowns and supporting data by determining the information required by the company and the customer. May apply new approaches or significantly modify standard procedures.

Identifies factors required to provide cost and price information data. Provides analyses of cost data and makes recommendations to management regarding price. Analyzes complex cost data to determine projected profits or potential losses including risk analysis. Analyzes and presents alternative pricing scenarios with varying risk trade-offs.

Represents the company in high-level contract negotiations by providing information and influencing the process in the best business interest of the company. Frequently negotiates off-site in a leadership role with limited support. Negotiates major long-term agreements with suppliers.

Ensures compliance with federal, state and other related pricing laws, regulations and guidelines to minimize legal and financial exposure.

Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing specialized, diverse, and complex information and trends.

Guides cost analysis process by providing sophisticated, in-depth analysis of information on trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; and recommending actions.

Applies and leads continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency of systems and processes within the division and/or with corporate and customer involvement. Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses. Analyzes proposed changes in methods and materials.

Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services. Regularly informs and consults with top management regarding negotiating strategies for large or new business proposals.

Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications establishing professional networks, and/or participating in professional societies.

Acts as consultant to management on major matters. May provide leadership to others in related functions or to business or ad-hoc teams. Leads pricing team in responding to government and customer audits. Actively leads and supports process improvement projects. May act as functional expert. Establishes goals and objectives required to complete projects. Identifies mentoring needs. Trains and mentors less experienced employees.

Shares specialized knowledge with others. Represents company on specific projects. Represents the division pricing team in interdivisional projects and analyses. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement).
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Accounting, Business, or related field, which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 8+ years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and regulations, including Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and/or Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing, engineering, fabrication and assembly methodology and associated processes.
- Ability to effectively assess, lead, and implement continuous improvement in critical and/or high-impact areas.
- Proficient with automated estimating, pricing, and accounting systems, spreadsheet and database applications, and standard business applications software.
- Ability to read, analyze, organize, and interpret specialized, diverse, and complex estimates, price proposals, and financial reports.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management.

Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
