Counsel- Privacy, Risk & Data Security

Description of Role:

This is a rare and unique opportunity to join one of the fastest growing companies in the U.S. and play a key role in helping Integrity execute on its strategic vision. This attorney will report to the company’s Assistant General Counsel and interact with business stakeholders to collaborate effectively across the company and help the business identify and implement practical business solutions to achieve its goals.

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive attorney to join our legal team as Counsel, Privacy, Risk & Data Security. This role will be responsible for advising on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues related to data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and information governance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of global privacy laws, emerging AI regulations, and IT risk management practices.

Privacy & Data Protection

  • Advise on compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review privacy policies, data processing agreements, and consent mechanisms.
  • Assist with review of contractual terms related to data privacy and information security.
  • Guide business units on data subject rights, including access, correction, deletion, and portability.

Data Governance

  • Develop and maintain policies for data retention and destruction in alignment with legal and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT and compliance teams to ensure proper data cataloguing, classification and lifecycle management.

Cybersecurity & Incident Response

  • Provide legal support for cybersecurity incident response, including breach notification obligations and regulatory reporting.
  • Lead tabletop exercises and post-incident reviews to improve response protocols.

Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technologies

  • Monitor and interpret evolving laws and regulations related to AI, machine learning, and automated decision-making.
  • Advise on ethical and legal considerations in the development and deployment of AI systems.

Regulatory Monitoring & Risk Management

  • Track developments in insurance and securities regulations as they relate to privacy, cybersecurity, and AI.
  • Conduct legal and privacy risk assessments for IT systems and vendor engagements, including third-party risk reviews

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with internal stakeholders including IT, compliance, product, and HR to ensure alignment on privacy and security initiatives.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory inquiries related to data use and protection.

Experience:

The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in-house or at a law firm with a focus on privacy, cybersecurity, or technology law. Insurance industry knowledge or experience is helpful but not required.


Requirements and Qualifications
:

  • JD from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
  • Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas or other state bar
  • At least 3 years of combined law firm and/or in-house experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. privacy laws, cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001), and AI governance trends
  • Experience with incident response and IT risk assessments
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgment
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal clients and stakeholders on numerous data privacy and information governance matters
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to handle multiple, competing workloads with changing priorities to meet necessary deadlines
  • Motivated self-starter with strong work ethic
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Great sense of humor, curiosity and a desire to learn
