- We are looking for a Country Contracts Manager who will be a key member of the Egypt Leadership Team , playing a strategic role in driving business growth, managing commercial risk, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Your role goes beyond the traditional legal/contracts function – you are expected to act as a proactive business partner who supports operational and strategic decisions, helping to shape and implement the country’s business objectives.
Key Leadership Responsibilities:
- Strategic Business Partner:
Collaborate closely with the Country MD and other business leaders to contribute to the development and execution of the country’s business strategy.
- Contracts & Risk Management Leadership:
Lead all contract-related activities, ensuring commercial and legal risks are identified, mitigated, and managed effectively across the project lifecycle.
- Customer-Centric Approach:
Promote a customer-first mindset in contract negotiations and execution, balancing legal integrity with pragmatic business solutions to support long-term client relationships.
- Driving Growth Beyond Boundaries:
Go beyond the traditional contract management scope by identifying new commercial opportunities, supporting bid strategies, and enabling faster go-to-market approaches.
- Leadership Team Contributor:
As part of the Egypt Leadership Team, contribute to cross-functional decision-making, organizational development, and a culture of accountability and performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Sales, Finance, Operations, and Delivery teams to ensure alignment on commercial strategy, contract compliance, and project execution.
- Compliance & Ethics Champion:
Ensure adherence to internal compliance policies, external regulations, and ethical standards. Provide training and guidance to the wider organization on contractual best practices.
- Team Mentorship & Development (if applicable):
Lead, mentor, and develop any direct reports or extended team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative contracts function.
- Key Technical Responsibilities:
- A. Pre-Award (Tendering & Bid Phase)
- Review and analyse tender and related contractual documents to identify commercial, legal, and contractual risks.
- Assist in the preparation of contractual and commercial sections of bids and proposals.
- Develop and draft deviations and clarifications to tender documents in coordination with relevant stakeholders (Sales, Legal, Logistics, and technical teams).
- Lead the negotiations of contract terms with clients and partners till closure to secure favourable and balanced terms and conditions in accordance with KONE policy.
- Advise management on potential liabilities, obligations, and risk mitigation strategies before contract award.
- Lead the review/ formation of all Agreements as required for the bid including LOA/LOIs, NDAs, Exclusivity Agreements, Joint Ventures (JVs), Consortiums, Subcontracts and the like.
- B. Post-Award (Contract Administration & Management)
- Administer and interpret contract terms to ensure compliance with all obligations, deliverables, and timelines.
- Manage contract change processes, including variations, extensions of time, and time and/or cost claims, ensuring proper substantiation and timely submission.
- Lead negotiations on contract amendments, settlement agreements, and commercial disputes.
- Maintain comprehensive contract records, correspondence, and registers (variations, claims, insurances, bonds, etc.).
- Support project management and finance teams in payment collection in accordance with contract terms.
- Acting as the Backbone for the Operations team on Site for all contractual and project management matters.
- Review/ assist with the Delay analysis techniques for EOT claims & prolongation cost calculations.
- Coordinate with Legal on potential disputes, claims defence, pre-litigation matters, and arbitration preparation.
- Ensure timely close-out of contracts including release of guarantees, final accounts, and documentation.
- Identify, assess, and monitor contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop mitigation strategies and ensure their implementation in coordination with project stakeholders.
- Provide timely training and guidance to project teams on contract awareness and compliance in coordination with the Legal team.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, ethics, and governance standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management (Master’s degree is an extra).
- Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in contracts management, with solid exposure to both pre-award and post-award phases within construction, engineering, or industrial projects.
- Professional Accreditation is ultimately required (CIArb and/or RICS)
- Strong knowledge of Construction Egyptian Laws (administrative and civil) and international standard forms of contract (FIDIC, JCT, NEC, bespoke forms).
- Proven track record in claims preparation, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
- Excellent command of English & Arabic.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to review P6 extracts/ files.
- Strong P&L knowledge end to end
- Strong financial analytics capabilities
